Con Und es wurde Licht (y se hizo la luz) abordé de una forma auto-reflexiva, mediante la repetición del gesto, cuestiones como la finitud, el valor de la obra de arte y su fisicidad. Los materiales utilizados para llevar a cabo la acción fueron tres rotuladores -azul, amarillo y rojo- y tres rollos de papel de unos 700 m de longitud. Con un primer rotulador empecé a trazar líneas verticales en el extremo de uno de los rollos de papel, desenrollando a medida que el trazo iba avanzando. La acción continuó hasta que se agotó la tinta del rotulador. La misma acción se repitió con el resto de los colores.

El tiempo está muy presente en la mayoría de mis obras, pero en esta cobra mayor relevancia ya que la duración de la acción depende del material, y no del autor del gesto. Cuando la tinta se agota, la obra se da por finalizada. De la oscuridad surgió la luz, la oscuridad está presente en la luz, la luz depende de la oscuridad. Los tres colores primarios, que componen el espectro lumínico visible para el ojo humano, se agotan y dan paso a la oscuridad que los creó.

With Und es wurde Licht(And there was light) I addressed, in a self-reflective way, issues such as finitude, the value of the work of art and its physicality. The materials used to carry out the action were three markers – blue, yellow and red – and three 700-meter rolls of paper, and the method was the repetition of a gesture. With the first marker I began to draw vertical lines at the end of one of the rolls of paper, unrolling it as the line progressed. The action continued until the pen ran out of ink. The same action was repeated with the rest of the colours.

Time is very present in most of my works, but in this one it becomes more relevant since the duration of the action depends on the material, and not on the author of the gesture. When the ink runs out, the work is finished. From the darkness came the light, the darkness is present in the light, the light depends on the darkness. The three primary colours, which make up the light spectrum visible to the human eye, are exhausted and give way to the darkness that created them.
