BOMBILLAS NEGRAS Y PLATOS DE ENGAÑO, es una de las tres instalaciones site-specific que se han llevado a cabo en la Real Fábrica de Cerámica del Conde de Aranda, concretamente en una de las cámaras de cocción dobles de finales del siglo XVIII.

Atraída por la confrontación entre lo industrial y lo artesanal desde un contexto histórico como es la antigua Fábrica de Cerámica del Conde de Aranda, la propuesta hace visible ciertas temáticas en torno a la memoria histórica, el patrimonio y la utopía tecnológica. La instalación utiliza objetos simbólicos para comunicar conceptos abstractos de manera efectiva. En la actualidad, la bombilla sigue siendo el símbolo por excelencia de la innovación y la iluminación. Por otro lado, los denominados «platos de engaño», como se les conoce en Alcora, aluden al contexto histórico del lugar, haciendo referencia a la moda de las manufacturas cerámicas del siglo XVIII, el trampantojo, la ilusión óptica, el espíritu de fantasía y el engaño.

Los objetos de cerámica utilizados como «estímulos» subvierten la interacción entre el espacio físico y la percepción subjetiva. La bombilla, despojada de su función original, se erige como un testigo silencioso de un pasado que ya no está. Las manchas negras en el suelo, representadas por un plato de engaño, se transforman en un charco, en un trampantojo óptico. El proyecto no solo revisa los procesos de trabajo tradicionales de la cerámica, sino que también pone de manifiesto la producción en sí misma y reflexiona sobre la constante lucha por la permanencia, que se encuentra en constante tensión con la fugacidad de la vida.

Imágenes tomadas tras las lluvias torrenciales provocadas por el Dana que destruyeron una parte parte de la Fábrica de Cerámica durante mi estancia. Las lluvias e inundaciones repentinas sin precedentes en España, con especial virulencia en la zona de Valencia, causaron 210 víctimas hasta el momento y daños importantes en infraestructuras, además de enormes pérdidas económicas.

Pictures taken after the torrential rains caused by Dana which destroyed part of the Ceramics Factory during my stay. The unprecedented rains and flash floods in Spain, with particular virulence in the Valencia area, caused 210 victims so far and significant damage to infrastructures, as well as huge economic losses.

BOMBILLAS NEGRAS Y PLATOS DE ENGAÑO (2024) is one of the three site-specific installations that have been carried out in the Real Fábrica de Cerámica del Conde de Aranda, specifically in one of the double ceramic firing chambers from the end of the 18th century. Attracted by the confrontation between the industrial and the artisanal in the historical context of the former Conde de Aranda Ceramics Factory, the proposal makes visible certain themes around historical memory, heritage and technological utopia, and uses symbolic objects to communicate abstract concepts effectively, with the light bulb still being the symbol par excellence of innovation and illumination.
